Another Historical Journey Inc.
Another Historical Journey is a grassroots, faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Cleveland, Ohio, founded in 1998 by Sylvia A. Morgan. Inspired after reading about African American history, the Underground Railroad, and the Civil Rights Movement, the organization travels with church groups, youth groups, civic and community groups, senior groups, and school groups.
Mission: to organize groups from students to seniors with a desire to explore, discover, and learn our great American history, following the footprints of the Underground Railroad, the Civil Rights Movement, college and university visits, and cultural, civic, and social events.
Purpose: to recapture moments in history and sense the struggle our forefathers felt as they sought freedom, justice, and equality, so all cultures and races become more aware of our rich African American heritage; by traveling to the destination we share in the experience and pay homage to the many who paved the way.
For our youth: instilling this history enhances awareness, gives hope, raises self-esteem, and motivates them to dream and prepare for a bright future through education.

About Sylvia
Sylvia Morgan founded Another Historical Journey and has led its journeys for 28 years. She is a travel consultant who customizes each of her tours. The groups travel by motorcoach to the places where African American history happened, among them Hitsville U.S.A. in Detroit, the Frederick Douglass and Mary McLeod Bethune houses in Washington, the Maggie L. Walker house in Richmond, the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center in Chicago, the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Sharswood in Virginia, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. Another Historical Journey is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The organization has grown with the support of her husband Oscar Morgan, family, and friends.
Sylvia’s favorite song is “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free” by Nina Simone. Her favorite poem is “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou, and her shero is Ida B. Wells.
